Fanny Flamingo Celebrates
Celebrate the 4th of July with Fanny Flamingo. My funny flamingo design with her hat and American flag. She is ready for Indepence Day. Are you?
This was an interesting day I came across when I was researching daily celebrations for my Squidoo lens. A lot of sites talked about celebrating this day but there was not very much information on the origins of the day.
In the information I found, some suggested the day was to recognize those sailors that lost their way. Others suggested that it was a day to think about your direction in life.
I think it is really interesting that there are many of these unusual holidays that we celebrate but yet nobody really knows why. One site asked the question, “Who comes up with this stuff anyway?”
So after hours of research I don’t have anymore insite into this than I did before I started researching it. So my suggestion on how to celebrate this day would be on a beach somewhere with foo-foo drinks.
Let the Festivities Begin
Its November 1 and that marks the start of the holiday season. I just updated my Squidoo Lens (check it out) with holidays for the first week of November. And I would just like to add that there are many unusual holidays this month.
November is also Peanut Butter Lovers Month. I was surprised to see this as a monthly observance because it seemed somewhat obscure. But, being a peanut butter lover myself, I had to research it. We all know that peanut butter is good for you. But I was surprised to find out how good it is for you.
Some of the days I will be celebrating this week are:
- Zero Tasking Day
- Cookie Monster Day
- Cliche Day
- Use Your Common Sense Day
- International Tongue Twister Day
With all the holidays this month, don’t let them all suck the life out of you. And since today is Zero Tasking Day, I need to start celebrating now!
Fanny Flamingo
Well, first thing you will notice is that my flamingo is also carrying the green purse. However, I created my flamingo character long before I created the green purse. I have always had somewhat of a fascination for pink flamingos. The pink flamingo is a beautiful bird and we have made a tacky pop culture out of it. Everything from yard art to neon signs. Check out my lens on this topic: Little Known Things about Flamingo Yard Art
My idea for her came from a joke that a colleague and I came up with. It kind of spun out of control until we decided on the flamingo.
Fanny Flamingo is one of my favorite characters that I have created. You will see her in a variety of designs that I have worked on!
